Hi, I’m Inga
I’m a visual artist and tutor, and I love exploring the beauty of nature and places through watercolours. My hope is to inspire you to pick up a brush, experiment, and discover the joy and calm that comes from creating your own art. If you want to learn more about how to start with watercolour no-stress, download my free guide.
Books
Connect to nature through the art of watercolour | 2023Painting Calm
Painting Calm is my first book and is all about inspiration, the simple pleasure of starting with watercolour, and allowing space for exploration. It’s an encouraging guide to picking up a brush without pressure, beginning with something simple and letting the paint flow naturally.
For me, it brings together a sense of calm, almost meditative painting, while gently supporting growth and confidence as an artist along the way.
You will explore:
An overview of watercolour painting supplies and how to use them
Basic watercolour techniques and colour theory
Exercises for finding inspiration in nature
Seasonal projects that include painting trees, leaves, flowers, natural light and patterns found in nature
Tips for building a creative practice
Connect to the natural world through the art of painting | 2024Wild Watercolour
In my second book, Wild Watercolours, I explore more complex subjects, animals, while sharing creative, approachable ways to paint them. The book dives deeper into watercolour techniques while keeping exercises simple and fun. Each project focuses on painting an animal while also introducing a specific technique, so you’re not only learning how it works but also how to apply it practically and creatively in your own paintings.
You will explore:
Dry brush on wet effect – red pandas
Wet brush on wet effect – beetles
Glazing – ladybirds
Blooms – hare silhouettes
Pulling technique – frogs
Watercolour collage – koi fish
Using masking fluid – snake
Using different textures – turtles
Expressive features – flamingos
Using space – dolphins
Different brush strokes – chameleons
Connect to calm through the beauty of watercolour | 2026Painting Landscapes
In my third book, Painting Landscapes, I focus on guiding beginners through painting individual elements of nature: water, mountains, trees, and meadows, before bringing them together into harmonious landscape compositions. In this book, my approach moves a little closer to classical painting principles while still keeping the style simple, accessible, and encouraging for beginners.
You will explore:
Water: learn to capture tranquil reflections, rippling movement and the soft transparency of waves using watercolour's natural fluidity.
Mountains: explore light, shadow and rocky textures to create depth and drama in striking mountain scenes.
Trees and meadows: practice painting flora, from delicate leaves to lively wildflowers and grasses.
Seasons: discover how shifting palettes and moods can bring the atmosphere of each season to life on paper.
Travel sketches: try portable, playful approaches to quickly documenting your journeys and everyday surroundings.
